Morocco has a history of extensive migration.  Many towns and cities were settled and developed by other cultures.  The region was first controlled by Carthage from an early date.  Later, it was the western most province of the Roman Empire.  Following the Arab conquest of the late 7th century, the area of North Africa came to be known as the Maghreb – which means West in Arabic.  After this conquest, most of the people accepted Islam as their religion. Morocco is a land of contrasts with many magnificent and interesting cities and fascinating landscapes.wich encorage evry body to take a Tour of Morocco.  The largest city and major Atlantic Ocean port is Casablanca, an industrial and commercial centre.  The beautiful capital of Rabat lies a short distance to the north on the Atlantic coast.  Other port cities include Tangier on the Strait of Gibraltar, Agadir on the Atlantic and Al Hoceima on the Mediterranean.  Chefchaouen in the north is “The Blue Pearl of Morocco”.  Marrakech in the south is “The Magical Red City”.  And Fes is said to have some of the finest souks, or open-air markets, in all North Africa. More about Ouarzazate

Moroccans cannot say the word Ouarzazate without a feeling of relief and relaxation.  In the Berber language it’s a phrase meaning ‘’without noise ‘’.  Geographically, Ouarzazate is south of Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains and known as a gateway to the Sahara Desert.  The huge Taourirt Kasbah, once occupied by the last Berber chieftain El Glaoui Et-Hami in the late 19th century, has been featured in several movies. The kasbah has views over the rugged local landscape. To the northwest is the fortified red-earth city of Aït Ben Haddou and northeast is the rocky Todra Gorges.  A road winds southeast through the Draa Valley’s groves of lush palm trees to the desert. There so much beauty around this area it is worth a visit.  To see the best of the country, put Ouarzazate on the list of places to see with Morocco Meta Adventures.
